Elaine has been with AEC for over 28 years and seen it grow into the Company it is today. She is responsible for all the secretarial and admin for the Company, her most challenging role being keeping the AEC team in check.

Andrew Burke

BSc (Hons) MIOA(D) – Director

Andy graduated from the University of Salford in 1999 and after spending a year as a graduate consultant with another consultancy moved to AEC in 2002. He is an experienced consultant able to cover all elements of the acoustic design for large projects including Cinemas, Residential, Offices, Schools, Colleges and Universities, Industrial and Healthcare developments amongst others. He has worked as a single and joint expert witness on Noise Induced Hearing Loss and other acoustics related claims. Andy is a full member of the Institute of Acoustics and holds its Post Graduate Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control.

David Terry

BSc (Hons) MIOA – Director

David has worked in acoustic consultancy since graduating from the University of Salford in 2006 with a degree in Audio Technology. Before joining AEC in 2019, David worked for a large multi-disciplinary consultancy and an independent acoustic consultancy, where he developed a broad range of skills and experience, including: acoustic design advice for education, residential and entertainment buildings; noise impact assessments of road, rail, industrial and mixed-use developments; vibration assessments of operational rail and construction activities, and expert witness reports in civil and criminal proceedings. David works part-time in AEC's Sheffield office - 32 Eyre Street, Sheffield, S1 4QZ.

Paul Knowles

BSc (Hons) MIOA – Director

Paul has worked in acoustic consultancy with AEC since 2007. He has gained extensive experience in pre-completion testing, building acoustics, environmental noise assessments, industrial noise, and the Control of Nosie at Work Regulations. Paul mostly works on residential, educational, industrial and commercial developments, of all sizes, across the UK.

Warren King

BSc (Hons) MIOA – Senior Consultant

Warren joined AEC in October 2018 and has 14 years of experience in consultancy. He is a member of the Institute of Acoustics and is experienced in noise modelling, residential and environmental planning assessments, noise from motorsport, noise at work and entertainment noise. He has also provided noise assessments and management for numerous large-scale music events and acted as an expert witness at premises licence hearings and reviews.

Ross Chamberlain

BSc (Hons) MIOA - Senior Consultant

After completing his degree at De Montfort University, Ross joined AEC in July 2017. Since then, he has gone on to obtain the Institute of Acoustics’ Post Graduate Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control. Ross has already gained a good level of experience in environmental noise measurements, assessments for planning, sound insulation testing and calculation methods relating to noise break-in from external sources. He is also experienced in the use of building acoustics modelling software.

Naveen Simha

MSc MIOA - Consultant

Naveen Joined AEC after completing his master’s degree in Environmental Acoustics at Salford University in October 2018. He has gained a good level of experience in environmental noise measurements, sound insulation testing and calculation methods relating to noise break-in from external sources. He is also involved in the noise break-in calculations pertaining to Highways England’s Noise Insulation Scheme.

Kevin A Worthington

BSc(Hons) CEng MIMechE MIOA MEWI FIDiagE – Past Director

Founder and Director of Acoustic & Engineering Consultants Limited, and worked as a Consulting Engineer since 1985. Primary experience includes industrial and environmental noise and vibration assessment; product noise testing and acoustic design and prediction. Experienced expert witness in noise induced hearing loss and vibration related injury litigation and environmental/planning noise. Extensive experience in working as Single Joint Expert.
