When Acoustics and Politics Collide

The Government has recently introduced a new protest control bill which has piqued the interest of all of those in the acoustics industry. Specifically, the new power senior police officers will gain in which they can introduce maximum noise level limits to protests.

We as acousticians at AEC are already experienced when it comes to setting noise level limits. Whether that be setting limits for industrial mechanical services plant, entertainment venues or noise monitoring at large scale music festivals. But will we soon be conducting noise monitoring at protests? This will come with a new set of challenges and could challenge personally held opinions.

Are you ‘Hey! Ho! The bill has got to Go!?’

Or are you more in line with the classic Chas & Dave song and think the protesters should ‘Turn That Noise Down’!?
