This latest amendment (above) makes it a requirement, in law, for the hospitality sector (cafés/bars/restaurants/clubs) to control amplified music to a limit of “85dB(A) when measured at the source of the music”. Under these temporary regulations, the responsible person(s) could be fined up to £10,000 for non-compliance. Acousticians, such as AEC, may be required to assist where concerned businesses need help understanding the noise levels in their premises.
